At our 5PM service this week, we read about Jesus as the Good Shepherd. Not only does Jesus care for and nurture us as a shepherd does his sheep, but he is also the gate to heaven. Jesus stresses the exclusivity of heaven and that he is the only way to gain entry.
Far from being a limiting factor, this is great news! He has taken the burden away from us. Jesus is the way to heaven because he does all the work for us. What we are left with is a call to trust in him, that he will bring us to heaven because in Christ, our sins are forgiven.
